Landscaped by Urban Landscape Solutions, this 12.5 HA world-class green lung development next to the heart of the city has been awarded 11 SALI and Landscape Irrigation Association (LIA) Awards of Excellence to date.
Its multi-usage areas include pathways for walking, jogging and cycling, an outdoor fitness area with various apparatus, two specialist children's play parks, a labyrinth and an amphitheatre.
It also includes a biodiversity showcase garden and features no fewer than 300 local plant species, animal sculptures, educational interactive displays, demonstration gardens and a Khoikhoi display.
Water is re-channelled from the artesian wells in Oranjezicht directly to the Green Point Park and is sufficient enough to sustain the park. A hydro turbine generates hydro-electricity from this water supply, and the park has the latest weather station technology for the irrigation system.
